FAQ

Q. How to prepare for your session?

A. We suggest that you wear comfortable, loose clothing so that we get the most accurate data. Wearing tight, restrictive clothing skews our data as it restricts breathing. It will also facilitate appropriate sensor placement such as upper trapezius for surface electromyography (sEMG) training to reduce muscle tension.

Avoid drinking caffeine or smoking on the day of assessment as it impacts assessment results. Please bring details of any medication you are taking.

Q. What to expect during your first session?

A. Your first appointment will be 90 minutes to ensure that we have enough time to do a full physiological stress profile biofeedback assessment. We ask you to fill out our intake forms prior to the session to ensure the most efficient use of time.

All of our methods that will be used are completely painless. We simply place our instruments on your skin and gently remove them once finished.

You will receive a comprehensive report with treatment recommendations tailored to your aims and health concerns.

Q. How many sessions will it take?

A. Biofeedback learning takes a commitment of at least 5 to 10 weekly sessions to become proficient at a single biofeedback modality. Neurofeedback typically requires a minimum of 20 weekly or twice a week sessions, depending on the issue being treated. Ideally the client will practice at home in between sessions, our clinic has devices available to rent for home-practice. This ensures best and enduring results.

However, clients with a very dysregulated physiology or complex health issues may require lengthier treatment. Clients are monitored regularly and training is adjusted to maximize learning, reduce stress and increase wellbeing.

Applied psychophysiology can be compared to physiotherapy for the body: enough training is required in the clinic and exercises at home to reestablish proper function.

Q. How frequently do I need to come to the clinic?

A. We find that clients make the best progress when they make appointments for 1-2 times a week. Progress is also accelerated when clients commit to working on homework between sessions.

Q. How long will my appointments be?

A. The initial intake lasts 90 minutes. The follow-up appointments to implement your treatment plan last 40-45 minutes.

Q. How do i get there?

A.  A parking garage is available in the Republic Plaza II building off Malacca St. You can also take the MRT to Raffles Place and we are located directly next to the station. The entrance is right next to Starbucks, after you sign in with security (use the term “Meeting” as reason for visit), please take the lift to the 17th floor.
